Bonus Credits are a rare second viewer currency: viewers can only earn them from subscriptions, gifted subs, Bits, or wheel wins (never for free), and can only spend them on heavier reward redemptions.
What it solves
Some streamers were already keeping a manual notebook: who gifted a sub this stream, who
subscribed, and giving them something extra special later on. That notebook is a separate ledger
from channel points: points build up from just watching, in large numbers and many uses; this
ledger only tracks people who actually spent money or got lucky, at a scale of a few to a few dozen
entries per stream. Bonus Credits automate that notebook: viewers can check their own balance with
!bonus, streamers don't have to reconcile it by hand every stream, and payouts can run
automatically off events.
Bonus Credits is a Pro-only feature
The entire Bonus Credits module can only be configured and awarded on Pro channels. On a non-Pro
channel, the settings and balance management pages become read-only, subscriptions/gifts/Bits/the
wheel stop awarding bonus credits, and any bonus-priced reward becomes entirely unredeemable, but
!bonus lookups keep working and no existing balance is ever deleted; everything resumes
the moment Pro is restored.
Turning the module's own master switch off does the same thing. Bonus-priced
rewards disappear from the reward list entirely (on the public page and in !shop
alike), so you never end up looking at a reward you cannot click, or spending credits you can no
longer earn. Switch it back on and everything resumes; the rewards themselves need no reset.
Five earning sources, nothing else
Bonus Credits can only be earned from: subscriptions (including resubs), gifted subs, Bits (cheering: off by default, with a configurable amount per 100 Bits), the wheel's winning actions, donation rewards, and manual adjustments by the streamer or a MOD via the dashboard or chat commands.
Watch time, following, chat activity, and daily check-in never award bonus credits: this isn't "not implemented yet," it's a deliberate permanent exclusion. Bonus Credits' whole premise is "rare, can't be earned for free," and a single free earning path would undo that entirely. Tiers 1/2/3 for both subs and gifted subs are each an independent flat amount; they don't stack. Tier 2's amount is exactly what's set for Tier 2, not Tier 1's amount plus a bonus.
Donation rewards
When enabled, viewer donations can also earn Bonus Credits. TWD-priced providers (ECPay, OPay, PAYUNi, NewebPay, and manual entries on the dashboard) and USD-priced providers (PayPal, Unifi Pay) each get their own "credits per how much" divisor, and every provider can also be fine-tuned or turned off individually. A single donation's credit payout is capped too, so an overly small divisor can't award an outsized amount from one donation.
Three things worth spelling out:
- Credits are granted only when the viewer was signed in with a linked Twitch/YouTube account at the time of the donation. Donating anonymously does not change this: anonymous only hides the name on public pages and leaderboards; the credits are still granted. What genuinely earns nothing is a donation with no account behind it: one made without signing in, or one pulled from an external platform that has not been attributed to a viewer yet. The system has no one to credit it to.
- Credits are based on what the viewer paid, not what you receive after payment-provider fees. A 100 TWD donation always counts as 100 TWD, regardless of the fee taken out.
- Refunding or deleting a donation record does not claw back credits already granted. This is a deliberate difference from Progress Goals, which do roll back on refund: the credits may already be spent, balances can never go negative, and clawing back would only force a half-broken "couldn't deduct it, so never mind" state.
Can only be spent on reward redemptions
The only place bonus credits can be spent is redeem rewards (pick Bonus Credits as the payment
currency on a reward in "Rewards"). Slots, !gamble, prediction bets, the coin pusher,
and throwing items never accept bonus credits: a currency you can only get by spending money or
getting lucky, but can also gamble away, effectively turns into cash-for-gambling-chips, the exact
opposite of "rare, honor-only resource." Viewers also cannot gift bonus credits to each other.
Four chat commands
!bonus (check your own or someone else's bonus credits and rank) and
!topbonus (bonus credits leaderboard) are available to any viewer.
!addbonus (add or remove bonus credits for a viewer, supports all for
every online viewer) and !setbonus (set a viewer's bonus credits to a fixed amount)
are MOD-and-above only. All four commands are disabled by default and need to be turned on from the
Commands page first.
No-award list: who !addbonus all skips
!addbonus all awards every viewer currently online, which usually includes the bot
accounts sitting in your channel. They will never redeem anything, but they will take up places on
the bonus credits leaderboard. Add them to the No-award list on the settings page and the
command skips them.
Two things that are easy to mix up: this list only affects
!addbonus all (bonus credits are never awarded to bots automatically:
subscriptions, gifts, Bits and the wheel are all triggered by a real person paying), and
it is a separate list from the channel points "Ignore users"; changing one does
not touch the other. Our own official bot accounts are on the list by default; add your own bots
yourself.
Common misconceptions
- The display name is customizable. "Bonus Credits" is just the default display name; the dashboard lets you rename it to anything. Renaming doesn't affect any existing balance or setting; it only changes the word shown in the UI and messages.
-
The first release only ships dashboard management, no public page or panel exposure.
Bonus Credits balances can currently only be viewed and adjusted from the dashboard's balance
list, or checked by viewers with
!bonus. The public support page, a standalone OBS widget, and the Twitch panel don't show bonus-priced rewards or balances yet; that's a deliberate first-release scope, not an oversight. - It doesn't grow into an unbounded number. Bonus Credits balances have a safety cap (one billion), and each earning rule has its own per-award cap too; this guards against a typo in a setting (an extra zero) awarding an astronomical amount.
-
There are no CJK "myriad"/"oku" large-number abbreviations.
The custom-message token
{bonus}only has the English abbreviation form (1.2K/3.4M) and{bonusNum}the comma-grouped form (1,200); Bonus Credits' cap is far below channel points', so there's no need to handle enormous numbers.
Settings
Bonus Credits are a rare second currency: viewers can only earn them from subs, gifts, cheers, or wheel wins, and can only spend them on redeem rewards.
Leave blank to use the bot's default message. See the "Insert variable" button beside each input.
The text below is taken from the in-app help, so it stays in sync with the actual interface.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Donation rewards | A fourth earning source for Bonus Credits, on top of subs, gifted subs, and cheers. |
| Per-donation cap | Maximum credits a single donation can earn. 0 = no limit. |
| Add | Enter a Twitch login or display name and balance; overwrites if the viewer already has a record. |
Chat commands
These are the default command names; they can be renamed or given aliases in the dashboard.
!bonus— Check how many bonus credits a viewer has and their current ranking.!topbonus— Show the top three Bonus Credits holders.!addbonus— Give bonus credits to viewers. Use 'all' for all chatters!setbonus— Set the bonus credits of a viewer. Overwrites the current balance instead of adding to it.
Other notes
- Upgrade to Pro to edit balances
- When enabled, subs, gifts, cheers, and the wheel can award bonus credits.
- Each tier for subs and gifted subs is its own flat amount; they don't add together.
- Credits are granted only when the viewer was signed in with a linked account at the time of the donation. Choosing to donate anonymously does not affect this: anonymous only hides the name publicly, the credits are still granted. Donations made without signing in, or pulled from an external source and not yet attributed, have no recipient to grant to. The amount used is what the viewer actually paid, not what you receive after service fees. Refunding or deleting a donation record does not claw back credits already granted. This is deliberately different from Goals, which do roll back.
- Toggle and adjust the divisor per provider. Providers you haven't touched inherit the currency setting above.
- Chat commands for Bonus Credits. Enable them and set permissions, cooldowns and aliases on the Commands page.
- There is no viewer-to-viewer transfer command; Bonus Credits can only be granted by the broadcaster or a MOD, which keeps boosting services and side deals out of the picture.
- Listed viewers are skipped by !addbonus all.
