Giveaways use tickets to decide the odds. Viewers buy tickets with a chat command, channel points or a Twitch custom reward; more tickets means better odds. After the draw you can require winners to confirm within a time limit.
What it solves
A plain "type 1 to enter" treats everyone identically, which flattens the whole thing. Tickets connect the giveaway to the rest of your systems: regulars have more points, so they can buy more tickets, and subscribers can get a bonus. The odds then reflect how involved someone is rather than how fast they type.
Getting started
- Create a giveaway and set the point cost of one ticket.
- Decide how viewers get tickets: a chat command, or a bound Twitch custom reward.
- Optionally set a per-viewer cap, sub-tier bonuses, and an open period.
- Draw. Turn on winner confirmation if you want winners to have to respond.
Winner confirmation
With confirmation on, a winner must post in chat within the time limit (optionally containing a specific keyword) for the win to count. Time out and they're marked unconfirmed, and you can remove them and redraw — this stops prizes going to someone who left hours ago. With it off, the draw is final.
Common misconceptions
- Previous winners aren't drawn again. They're excluded at draw time, so back-to-back wins in the same giveaway can't happen and you don't need to exclude anyone by hand.
- Gifted subscribers don't get the sub bonus. For ticket caps and bonuses they count as regular viewers — this is what stops mass gifting from buying the odds.
-
You must type the
!prefix yourself. Nothing is added for you; "join" and "!join" are two different things. - The custom reward name must match exactly. It's compared against Twitch as a string — one stray space and it won't match. Leave it empty to disable that entry route.
- An empty time field means "no limit", not "end immediately".
- Turning off "live only" lets viewers buy tickets while you're offline. Turn it off for giveaways spanning several days; leave it on to keep entries to the stream itself.
Settings
The text below is taken from the in-app help, so it stays in sync with the actual interface.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| One win per user | Viewers who already won are excluded from future draws. |
| Only usable while live | When off, tickets can be redeemed while offline too. |
| Subscriber perks: self-subscribers only | Recipients of gifted subs are treated as regular viewers, without the subscriber tier's entry/ticket bonus |
| Chat command | If you want a command, add the ! prefix yourself |
| Custom loyalty reward name | Name of the custom loyalty reward you created with Twitch channel points (must match exactly); viewers earn a ticket when they redeem it. Leave empty to disable |
| Keyword (optional) | Empty = any message confirms |
| Announce in chat when drawn | Whether a winner message is sent in chat when drawing or resending the announcement (on by default). |
Other notes
- When enabled, winners must send a chat message (optionally containing a keyword) within the time limit; expired winners can be redrawn in one click.
- Pending winners must speak in chat before the deadline; expired ones are marked "unconfirmed" and can be deleted to redraw.
- Leave empty to not use (no limit on this time)
