Predictions

Predictions let viewers bet points on what happens next on stream: will this run succeed, will you clear it in time. Opening, locking and resolving are all in your hands, and winners split the pool proportionally.

What it solves

Viewers already have opinions about what's coming — but an opinion typed into chat evaporates. A prediction turns it into a stance with something at stake: people who bet watch the outcome, and people who didn't want to know who called it. A failed attempt becomes a talking point instead of just a shame.

The lifecycle of a prediction

  1. Open: set the question and the options; betting begins.
  2. Bet: viewers pick a side from chat, wagering a number, all-in, or a percentage.
  3. Lock: betting closes — either on an automatic countdown or manually by a MOD.
  4. Resolve: pick the winning option and the system pays out proportionally.

Common misconceptions

  • You can add to your side, but you cannot switch sides. After betting on A you may raise on A, but you can't move that stake to B — this is what makes a prediction meaningful. Without it, everyone jumps to the likely winner right before the reveal.
  • The bet limit is per-viewer per-round, not per-bet. Existing bets and top-ups are counted together, and anything over the limit is refunded automatically rather than rejecting the whole wager.
  • Once locked, no more bets — it isn't a pause. Locking is the dividing line; after it the only paths are resolve or cancel.
  • Locking and resolving require MOD or above. Regular viewers can only bet, so nobody can resolve a round out from under you.
  • Cancelling refunds every bet. If the question itself turned out to be flawed (ambiguous conditions, say), cancelling beats forcing a resolution.

  • !lockbet — Lock betting on the active prediction (MOD).
  • !endbet — Resolve the prediction and pay out winners (!endbet number, MOD).
